Dali’s my dog

St. Petersburg is known for being having a museum full of artwork done by the iconic surrealist painter Salvador Dali. Because of this, students can be Dali Docents, which are people that know the background and details of a specific painting done by Dali.
Because of how famous the museum is, along with the painter that inhabits it, there is a documentary being filmed for the Art Mobile, which is used for elementary school students to learn about Dali, featuring the students that are part of the Dali Docent program, many of which attend this school.
“It is so awesome being able to be part of the Art Mobile. I remember going on it when I was younger, and it reminds me of my childhood,” says Callianne Billington, grade 12.
Jennifer Bodine, grade 12, said “It took a long time to film it. But it was pretty cool. We learned about 8 paintings, then gave a 15 minute long explanation of them.”
Bodine participated in the docent program last year, so she automatically had a place in the documentary, but Billington, who is joining for the first time this year, had to use just her art history knowledge.
“Mr. Tush, who is the art curator of the Dali, is an inspiration to everyone and helps make me understand how I can relate to Dali. After learning so much about him, I realize that Dali’s basically my dog.”
Any students with knowledge of Salvador Dali has the opportunity to join the docent program.  Just see Mr. Stewart.
