“I’m really excited about ‘Mockingjay Part Two’ coming soon. It’s going to be great,” Margaret Hynes said. Some people don’t realize that many big screen displays were novels beforehand.

After novels get a fan base, movie and network studios try to grab the idea. Books don’t always get turned into movies, but as TV shows as well. Some movies/ TV shows coming soon are “Mockingjay Part Two”, “Allegiant”, and S”hadowhunters TV” according to www.moviepilot.com.
Active readers are excited and nervous to see the picture in their head transform into Hollywood magic. “Some readers are looking forward to the transformation because of movies like ‘Harry Potter’ and ‘The Hunger Games’, which were pretty good,” Journalism teacher Mrs. Iovino said.

Margaret agreed, but also remembers, “’If I Stay’, that movie was awful.”

Some readers anticipate continuing movie series. “Allegiant,” a part of the “Divergent” trilogy, is coming out in 2016. “Allegiant” is being broken up into two parts. The trailer for part one dropped on September 15, 2015. First reactions were mixed.

Taylor Johnson, 9th grade, said she feels like it’s going to “be better than ‘Insurgent,’ but not better than ‘Divergent’.” It might be hard to judge, though, because “the trailer is mostly flashbacks,” she said.
It’s hard to squeeze pages of novels into a two hour movie, but book-readers’ desire for the movies to be similar to the original story they fell in love with. Taylor said Allegiant “looks promising, but I don’t want to get my hopes up.”

It’s a hard combination for Hollywood to target non-readers as well.
Other movies are coming out even sooner than 2016. “Mockingjay part two”, a part of “The Hunger Games Trilogy”, is coming out November 20th, 2015. Taylor says she’s “anticipating the epilogue scene in the movie. I don’t want to spoil (it for) anyone, but it’s really good.”
Other books such as The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare were made into a movie but didn’t make enough money in the box office to produce a second (or third). But now it’s moving onto a TV series. ABC Family picked up the pilot, and have already started filming.

The series is coming out in 2016 according the www.zap2it.com. The new cast includes Dominic Sherwood and Kat McNamara who will be playing the two main characters: Jace Herondale and Clary Fray www.adweek.com says. The change seems to be favorable and “better than the movie cast,” Taylor says. Not all readers get the chance to see their beloved book twice on the big screen but The Mortal Instruments fans got lucky.
You can find all of these novels before they hit the big screen at the library! Maybe you’ll be surprised with how much you enjoy the book, and comparing the transformations, or maybe you’d like to brush up on details of the book. Either way, the library is the place to search for the series that will capture your heart.
