No sour thoughts came out of the recent a Osceola project when Mrs. Wallen’s art class and Mrs. Iovino’s English class teamed up to portray idioms. The English class came up with a list of idioms for the art class to draw. Later, they would vote for their favorite. 9th grader, Katie Wickman, stole the show.  The picture she drew features a girl in a pickle suit to illustrate the idiom, “I’m in a pickle.” Is it peanut butter jelly time?

“I pulled the card out of an envelope,” Katie said as she explained how she got her assignment. “The table had envelopes [in front of us], I pulled that one [card] out.”  There were many idioms she could have chosen, but if she didn’t have to pick “I don’t know why, [but] I may have thought of this one.”

Mrs. Wallen she felt it was an easy and creative assignment while a substitute teacher was present. “I loved the integration; it really made the kids think… they enjoyed it.”

There are many other creations waiting in the second semester coming up at Osceola, so the artists here can put a lid on this project.
