Taylor Swift annoying? “That’s what people say”

“I think Taylor Swift needs Jesus,” said Bailey, 9th grade. After students participated in a song review of Swift’s new song ‘Shake it off’, the overwhelming response was that many of the students didn’t like Taylor as an artist or her new song.

Many students believe that she is more of a pop artist than the country artist she used to be. “I can’t stand Taylor Swift going to pop. She should have just stuck to country because that’s who she really is,” said Gracianna Hall, 10th grade.

The survey also shows the disapproval of her song ‘Shake it off’ from students. “It’s so annoying but catchy at the same time; I hate it,” said Christopher Weshington, 10th grade.

But even with the overpowering response of dislike for the song, many students admitted that they would buy her new album 1989 that comes out on October 27th. “Even though I didn’t like her song ‘Shake it off’ I would buy the album just to see if it’s any good, it probably won’t be though,” said Alexis Hanson, 10th grade.

The students who participated in the song review of ‘Shake it off’ by Taylor Swift also participated in the song review of Gwen Stefani’s first single called ‘Baby don’t lie’. The survey showed mixed opinions on her new single.

“To me it’s like she’s trying to let her music into the younger crowd,” said Athena, 12th grade. But others answered that the song connected well to their music taste. “I think this song has a nice upbeat and that it should be more popular because it’s really good,” said Justine Zitman, 9th grade.

All together many of the students who were surveyed enjoyed Gwen Stefani’s new single over Taylor Swift’s new single. “Taylor Swift needs to stop making songs, Gwen Stefani is so much better,” said Carol Valdes, 9th grade.
