High hopes for PCAC placement

The Warrior track team is taking over PCACs at Clearwater High School on Thursday. PCACs is a competitive all county meet that track students must qualify for in order to be eligible to compete.

“I’m training for PCAC’s by pushing myself through hard workouts and hydrating extensively-12 to 14 bottles a day to be exact” said Abimael Jimenez, 11th grade. Abimael started running about 7 years ago and enjoys doing the long distance events in track because of the challenge.

“I love doing the 3200 meter and the 1600 meter run because it’s a challenge to both keep up your endurance and pace, but it’s a challenge that I love” said Jimenez. He is hoping that the Osceola track team places in the Top 3 and that he accomplishes his personal to beat the school record.

“I currently run a 4:39 minute mile and the school record is a 4:34 minute mile; I’m going to work my heart out to accomplish this goal”

said Jimenez. Abimael’s strive to accomplish this goal through his personal motivation is not the only thing that gives him inspiration to run harder. “Without my team and coaches I would be nothing; I credit part of my success to my team because their support is what gives me strength to go faster” said Abimael.

Phi Nguyen, 11th grade, also qualified to compete in PCAC’s this Thursday as a 300 meter hurdler. “I enjoy doing the 300 hurdler because it gives me the challenge to jump over something and run simultaneously; it’s difficult but also fun,” said Nguyen. He hopes that the boys and the girls will be placed in the top 5 schools at PCAC’s. “We work hard and we deserve to do well because of the effort we put in.”

The Osceola girls’ track team placed 2nd overall in PCACs and the boys placed in 4th. Melissa Baldino, Jennifer Kistemaker, Darian Hooker, Ayden Marrullier, and Abimael Jimenez all came in first for their events.
