The Osceola baseball team hit it home at the spring break tournament that took place in Bradenton. The tournament was hosted at the IMG fields and took place over a four day period for the Warrior baseball team (Monday-Thursday).

“We had 3 wins and 1 loss over the tournament, I’m really proud of how the guys played” said Coach Futch.

This year the team is 14 and 7  but still has many more games to go. “Last year the team had 21 wins and 8 losses overall, the pitching and hitting was phenomenal; this year we struggle with that,” said Coach Futch. But even with this record Coach Futch is very optimistic that the team will be able to win districts this year and be able to make it to the playoffs. “The way we played at this tournament shows what our team is made of; if the guys bring their combined talent to the field, I feel like we will have a good chance to make it far into the playoffs,” said Coach Futch.

One of the stars of the game was Chase Achuff, an 11th grader who is playing shortstop on the field. “We lost our first game in the tournament 11-1” said Achuff. But the loss only fueled the players to play harder. “We were able to bounce back the next 3 games and get 3 wins to finish the tournament 3 and 1,” said Achuff.

This ability to bounce back from a tough loss is what Chase implies as being the part he likes most about his team. “I think we’ll finish the season out 18-7 because the players put out so much hard work I feel like we won’t loss many more games because we want to win so bad and we’re focused on the season now,” said Achuff.
