Students participate in a volleyball tournament.

Osceola’s fall sports such as volleyball and cross country are starting summer conditioning very soon.

Any athletes who are interested in trying out for playing in the upcoming volleyball season have a chance to practice before tryouts. On Tuesdays and Fridays from 2-3:30 in May, there is open gym for students. Furthermore, there is optional conditioning for volleyball starting on July 5th, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, lasting from 10am to 12pm at OFHS.

The official tryouts for volleyball are August 1st-August 5th, from 10am to 12pm. A sophomore student has been going to the open gym for volleyball the past week. “I love volleyball and I have been playing for a while; my life is very busy right now and open gym allows me to have fun with my friends after school.” she said. Bailee Schroeder, junior, has been an Osceola volleyball player for two years. Bailee stated that the open gym “will make us a better team when we get on the court a month before the season starts.”

In addition, cross country starts its summer conditioning on Monday, June 13th and will be held on every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 2:30pm-4. Any runners can meet at Coach Eagleson’s portable (Portable 2), which is located near the student drop off at the south end of the campus. Additionally, there will be conditioning on certain Saturdays off campus. The last day for conditioning is July 7th. Kristin Ringuette, sophomore, believes that cross country conditioning will, “help runners stay in shape”.

Before participating in any sports, make sure to have the appropriate paperwork turned into Ms. Copello (Room 198).
