Lady Warriors strive for success

Throughout the 2014-2015 school year there have been many accomplishments made by female students through their high school careers. These accomplishments range from academics, to sports, to achievements made outside of school that exceed the norm.

Alison Watkins, 12th grade, signed to play soccer for Troy State on February 4th and will play for the team throughout her college career. “

,” said Watkins. Alison played for the varsity soccer team and that success led her to get picked up by Troy State.

“I feel very lucky that I get to play for the school of my dreams; I’ve worked really hard for this opportunity and I’m so glad I could achieve this goal,” said Watkins.

Haydyn Gibson, 11th grade, was the state golf champion for 2014 and did this accomplishment through the golf team at Osceola. Haydyn worked her way up to becoming the best girl on the golf team, such as when she scored the lowest score (68) at the Mustang Invitational. “I’m so proud of myself for being able to be be the state champion of Golf; it’s something I’ve wished to accomplish for a very long time now,” said Gibson. Haydyn is interested in playing for Tulane and signing next year as a senior, but is still deciding which school would be best for her.

Mackenzie Patel had a story submitted into the Huffington Post called “ 7 Things I learned from Traveling in Europe” which gives a personal account to Mackenzie’s travels throughout Europe. “Although I made this book mostly at home, I give so much credit to Mr. Stewart and other teachers at this school for helping me become the writer I am,” said Mackenzie. She is now writing a short story and hopes that one day she will become a famous writer. “Although I have achieved so much already, I hope that my writing expands to interest others and I can write for my job,” said Mackenzie.
