This football season has not been what the Warriors were hoping for. The team is (0-6) on the season and has played some of the best teams in the county. However, there have been some bright spots during the year. The team has found a gem in sophomore Running Back Josh Given. To watch his highlights click here. Over the last 3 games, Given has totaled 277 yards of rushing with four touchdowns. “I’m having a lot of fun out on the field. Even though we aren’t getting the wins we want, the team is working hard and improving every week,” said Given.

Josh started the season off as the Warriors safety but then got moved to running back. “In practice I had been working mostly as a Safety and as a Wide Receiver, but I was more than happy to help the team when we needed another running back to run the ball.” The Warriors run Wing T offense which was implemented back when George Palmer was the head coach. “We run the ball most of the time so I knew I would get my fair share of the ball in the games.” When asked about how well he has been playing lately, Given responded, “I’m really happy. I am feeling more confident every game and my team mates are being really supportive.

Josh is only a sophomore so he knows that he has plenty of time to improve his game with his coaches. “We have some of the best coaches in the county. All of them want what is best for us and we greatly appreciate the time and the energy they put into the team.” The next game for the Warriors is the Homecoming game this Friday at Warrior Field against Boca Ciega High School.
