“This contest will be run in a preliminaries/finals format, with finals starting approximately two hours following prelims, and in reverse order of placement,” according to the FFCC website.

“I’m really excited that we get to host a guard competition. Performing isn’t gonna be as nerve wracking because we’re in our gym which is comforting,” said Teagan Redfering, junior and weapons captain.

“My favorite thing about hosting a competition is guiding the bigger, more advanced guards and getting to know them. Last year, USF came to our school and it was the best,” said Jenna Shirley, junior.

“Every year when we host a competition, we get together at someone’s house and have a poster party. We make signs for each school and write inspirational things on them.  I think we’re having it at Jasmine’s house, so that’s something to look forward to,” said Jillian Heuman, sophomore.

“Seeing my friends and family in the gym bleachers cheering for me is one of the best feelings in the world. Knowing that I have their support just makes me really happy,” Michaela Grimm, junior.

“I’m confident that our girls will beat Riverview. As long as they focus during practice and step up their game a bit, they’ll be fine,” said Emily Bordingon, instructor.

“Some of my best friends are in guard. I can’t wait to see them perform on Saturday,” said Madison Murphy, junior.
