Fans enjoy Next Big Thing concert on Saturday, December 7th at Vinoy Park in St. Petersburg

Over the weekend, many fans joined together at Vinoy Park for 97X Next Big Thing (NBT) to listen to their favorite bands, and meet people with similar taste in music. There were a whole bunch of fans waiting and walking around the park on Saturday. 97X lined up many famous bands and many new bands as well, they include: Sleeping with Sirens, A Day to Remember, 30 Seconds to Mars, Stone Temple Pilots, Pepper, Manchester Orchestra, The Dirty Heads, Frank Turner, Sleepwave, and Saints of Valory. Carlie McCann, 9th grade, said, “Stone Temple Pilot came and I wasn’t a huge fan of them but –  meh.”

Carlie said, “I thought it was great, and would love to go again.”  The hands were in the air waving back and forth, and the phones were recording the fans’ favorite bands. Screaming and singing all of their favorite songs, lost of teenagers found out their voices were dead by the end of the night.

Gabby Loverne, 9th grade, said, “This was one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. It was fabulous, and the best part was seeing A Day to Remember, and their famous hamster ball.” A Day to Remember’s lead singer Jeremy McKinnon was on stage in a hamster ball, and as soon as he started singing, he was surfing the crowd. Gabby said, “The crowd loved Jeremy in the hamster ball.”
