Using geography every day

Warriors walk out the doors leading to the portables, heading to number 10, knowing they are going to learn more about the ways people in other countries live. “I started teaching in 2005; I’ve only taught at one school- Osceola,” said Mrs. Lennon, World Cultural Geography teacher.

Mrs. Lennon has been a teacher for 9 years at Osceola. “(I became a teacher because) my father was a teacher before he retired, and I have always wanted to help kids learn in a fun environment,” said Mrs. Lennon.

You may refer to Mrs. Lennon as Ms. Tanigawa; her name changed because she got married recently. Mrs. Lennon said, “I love (teaching) kids and enjoy the challenge of presenting somewhat ‘monotonous’ content and making it enjoyable to learn.” She enjoys teaching World Cultural Geography because she loves learning about different cultures around the world, and says Geography is used every day, so she never gets the dreaded question, “when will we ever need to use this?”

Even though teaching is important it’s not her whole life. “(Some of my hobbies are) working out and playing sports. I also love attending sporting events and have fantasy football and baseball teams. And of course, shopping and traveling.” Said Mrs. Lennon. The fact that Mrs. Lennon loves sports; she became a pitcher for her college team, along with a scrum half on her college rugby team.
