Valentine’s Day bark

Ten more days until Valentine’s Day! The special day of love is coming up. An OHS Warrior, Caitlin Frandeka, 9th grade, said “If someone got me something I think I would want roses.” Another Warrior, Rachel Morales, 9th grade, said “I would want a teddy bear that’s bigger than me and a Pandora bracelet would be nice.” The sub for the library, Mr.Edenfield, said “usually my wife doesn’t get me anything, she just gets me stuff throughout the year and I get her flowers. So I don’t really want anything for Valentine’s Day.”

A fun idea of something to make for Valentine’s Day is to make Valentine’s Day bark. The ingredients needed are the following: 16 oz of dark or milk chocolate, 16 oz of white chocolate, frozen dried strawberries, and heart shaped sprinkles. First melt the dark chocolate in the microwave for about one minute, stir every 20 seconds until it’s melted. Then place the chocolate in the freezer for 20 minutes until it hardens. While waiting for the dark chocolate to harden, melt the white chocolate, once its melted stir in the frozen strawberries and sprinkles. Stir it up and then pour it over the dark chocolate (only if the dark chocolate is hard). Then add a little bit more sprinkles and strawberries to top it off, and stick it back in the freezer to harden. When it finally hardens, it can break it into pieces so it isn’t one big piece of bark and give it to that special someone for Valentine’s Day.
