On January 29th, numerous high schools all over Tampa Bay gathered together for the FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) District Competition. The competition was held at the 1st Presbyterian Baptist Church on Beach Drive. With the freezing rain and dropping temperatures, students bundled up in the church. Warrior’s battled rival school Lakewood in categories such as sports marketing, job interview, public speaking, Digital Design and Intro to Info Technology competitions.  18 OHS took home metals and are going to compete in states and from there, nationals. Eighteen is the highest number of students to qualify to compete in state competition in student history. A total of 40 students participated.  The competitions lasted several hours from 8:00- 4:30pm.

Will Wynne, who won first place in Client Service said, “I was kind of surprised because I forgot to ask the lady’s name. Also, I think I said ma’am too much.”

Matt Cortez competed last year and won nationals. He returned this year and is advancing to state competition in late March along with several other students.
