Warriors want win vs. Venice

With 9 games down and 1 to go, the Warriors are one win away from heading to the playoffs for the 2 straight year. However, standing in their way is a tough Venice Indians team, which is 6-2 this season.

“We can’t fumble the ball,” said Quadarius Patterson, 12th grade, who knows that this game is the most important game on the season. “We have to stay focused and not let up,” said Patterson, who has the 2nd most yards rushing and throwing this season. Quadarius has played both running back and Quarterback for the Warriors this season.

While the Warriors are confident, they are concerned about how good Venice is. Venice, a perennial Pinellas County killer, beat Pinellas Park in the first round of the playoffs last year. This year, Largo beat Venice on the last play of the game. This near win has some players concerned.

“Honestly, that does worry me,” said Patterson. This concerns the players because Largo, the district champs, barely beat Venice, and Largo beat Osceola 35-7 earlier this year.

With this being possibly the last game of the year, the seniors will be playing their last game as well. Patterson said that the thing he’ll miss most will be “Coach Palmer, definitely Coach Palmer.” The Warriors will try to win their way into the playoffs on Friday, November 1st at Osceola High School.
