High schools move to four grading periods

It’s official. Starting next school year, 2014-2015, there will be a four-quarter grading period schedule. This means students have four, nine week grading periods instead of the former six, six week grading periods, according to pcsb.org.

This new school calendar also includes 83 days of instruction during first semester and 97 days of instruction during second semester; in translation, first semester exams are now bumped up before the winter break.

What does this mean for Osceola? “We haven’t figured out all of the parameters of the change, of course things are going to have to be adjusted; tardies, demerits. We haven’t really discussed that yet but I’ll be going to a principal meeting February 1st to get all of the information,” said Mr. Bohnet, Principal at OHS.
