It’s time to break out your magic wands and Hogwarts robes, Harry Potter fans—because the fun times in the wizarding world are far from being over.

Two new Potter projects are currently in development, with author J.K. Rowling at the head of both operations. The first is a new film, entitled “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” and, according to The Guardian, it is set to release in November 2016. The movie’s title is the same as that of a textbook frequently mentioned throughout the Harry Potter books, and will follow the adventures of the textbook’s author, wizard zoologist Newt Scamander, as he travels to discover new magical creatures. The story will be set in New York City about seventy years before Harry Potter’s time. Scamander will be played by actor Eddie Redmayne, who is well known for his roles in the recent remake of “Les Miserables” and action film “Jupiter Ascending.” Other notable cast members include Alison Sudol, who is best known for her work as leader singer of the band A Fine Frenzy, and Ezra Miller, who is renowned for his role as Patrick in “The Perks of Being a Wallflower”. J.K. Rowling has written the screenplay herself, and David Yates, director of the majority of the Harry Potter films, is returning to direct this movie.

The second production is an original play written by Rowling, called “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”. Details on the plot have yet to be released, but Rowling took to her Twitter account, tweeting “…I can exclusively reveal that #CursedChild isn’t a prequel.” The play will debut in the summer of 2016, and will open at London’s Palace Theatre. The news of fresh Harry Potter material is sparking excitement in the hearts of many Osceola students. “My favorite character is Snape, or Mad Eye Moody,” said senior Lydia Masut. “I like the series because of the magic and the different spells they can do.”

“My favorite character is definitely Luna—or Sirius, because he’s crazy,” said Haley Nesto, 11th grade. “I like the series because of Buckbeak the hippogriff. He was in “The Prisoner of Azkaban”, and I saw that movie before I read the books, so I always liked him when I was younger.”

There’s still quite a bit of time before the release of both of these new additions to the Harry Potter lore, but it is needless to say that the anticipation for them is already growing. Until then, fans will have to wait patiently for more news as the year goes on, and hope that both productions are everything they are dreaming of and more.
