Making an all-star team is a grand accomplishment no matter what sport or activity students take part in. With this honor, students show that they are the best of the best in what they do. Academic all-star/salutatorian Makenzie Patel is on the top of her game when it comes to the A-Team. “I specialize in art history, literature, and history, although art history is definitely my strong point,” said Mackenzie. “I am enamored with painting, architecture, and sculpture.” In order to get to where she is today, Mackenzie needed a good team with which to surround herself. “Ashley Klein (a student who and graduated from Osceola two years ago) recruited Jackson Garcia, Molly Carpenter, and me at the end of sophomore year. She thought we would be a good fit for the team since a group of seniors was leaving,” said Mackenzie. Since she is the only Warrior on the all-star team, Mackenzie will join students from all over the county. “I am the only member from Osceola, but other students on the all-star team are from Seminole, East Lake, Largo, Tarpon, and Pinellas Park High School.” Makenzie feels very proud to be representing Osceola at the all-star games. “I feel honored to represent Osceola High School and to have a chance to participate in this once in a lifetime opportunity,” said Mackenzie. Just like all-star athletes, Mackenzie has worked with her fair share of role models and supporters on her path. “Without the support of my coach Mrs. Alvarez and my amazing team, I would never have gotten this far. I learned so much from my teammates and loved competing with them!” Mackenzie has a rough idea with what she wants to major in at college. “I am currently undecided, but I would like to double major in a math related field (i.e. applied mathematics, statistics, or neuroscience) and something in the arts (i.e. art history or architecture).”
