Kittens stuck in a tree on September 22nd, 2015.

On Wednesday September 16, students found two wild kittens in a tree out in the rose garden courtyard during first lunch. Three girls were able to catch one of the young cats and bring it inside safely. However, the other one ran down into a hole and has still not been found.

It is not clear if there are more kittens or how they even got there. The kitten that was rescued was brought to the Principal, Mr. Bohnet, who then gave it to Head Plant Operator Mr. Sprecher.

When asked about the kitten’s future furever home, Mr. Sprecher said, “One of the cafeteria workers [Tracy Kesel] took it home. The guidance counselor wants the other.”

Tracy Kesel was excited to say that the kitten is “doing good. He’s not eating yet, but we are giving him milk in a dropper.” She said the kitten seems to making himself right at home. “For a wild cat, he’s very tame,” Tracy explained. Tracy’s son, Nick Shytle, 12th grade, said he’s not too involved with the new addition to the family. “I think my mom named it Toby. I don’t really get to play with it much, but I have sisters who play with it.”

As of today, the other kitten that was hiding in the tree has still not been found.
