Students perform holiday tunes for crowd

Student musicians performed several times this week for parents, staff and students.  A guitar ensemble and a piano concert took place December 10th and 11th.

River Wells, 10th grade, is in the advanced guitar ensemble. “I’m one of the many guitarists in the guitar concert, but I’m the only bass guitarist. I have been playing guitar for three and a half years now and I still want to continue to play for the rest of my life.”

“We all have been practicing hard, since the beginning of the year for this winter concert coming up. The songs that we will be playing at the concert are “La Bamba”, “We Wish you a Merry Christmas” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” River said. “It’s a combination of contemporary and Christmas music all in one. My favorite piece that we play is, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”, because I am the only bass guitar and have my own specific part just for me.”

Mr. Campbell, piano teacher and guitar teacher, said, “In the piano recital, we hear a wonderful mixture of classical, contemporary music from wonderful musically talented students, and in the guitar concert, a wonderful mixture of both holiday and traditional music from the guitar 1 and advanced guitar ensemble.”
Mr. Campbell’s favorite piece of music is “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas (because) that (one) I am arranging for the advanced guitar ensemble to play at the concert,” Campbell said.  As far as the students’ work, he said, “I like all my students equally and love being a part of what they do and preform, I enjoy seeing both piano and guitar classes preform and learn,” he said.
