Why can’t Leonardo Dicaprio win an Academy Award?

Opinion

Another year has passed in the movie industry, and once again Leonardo Dicaprio was shut out from awards. This seems to be an annual event for Dicaprio, who is probably crying at home over his loss. This is the 4th time he has lost when nominated for an Academy Award.

Of course, there were other things going on at the Oscars. From the pizza delivered to Kodak Theater at the end of the show, to John Travolta’s inability to read a teleprompter, to the selfie retweeted so many times it shut down Twitter, the 86th Academy Awards was otherwise a huge success. It only could’ve only been better with a win for the academy’s most hated actor: Leonardo Dicaprio. At least he’s a winner in one category.

Truthfully, Dicaprio should just be glad he was at least nominated. Let’s not forget he wasn’t even nominated for “Titanic”, “The Departed”, “Inception”, or “Django Unchained”. Dicaprio was in two movies that won best picture, “Titanic” and “The Departed”, but he’s been shut out in the individual categories. This year, he was nominated for his role as Jordan Belfort in “The Wolf of Wall Street”, but was up against Matthew Mcconaughey who lost 50 lbs. for his role in “The Dallas Buyers Club”. So in order to win, he needs to lose, or he should change his name to Meryl Streep or Tom Hanks, and by next year, he may be lucky enough to have John Travolta mispronounce his name as the winner.
