Warriors feed families during holiday

The rise of food prices has made it hard for some families with fixed incomes, according to the USDA. To help the families who cannot afford their own food in the upcoming holidays, Osceola is now holding a canned food drive. The food drive is now through November 22nd. It is suggested to students to bring nonperishable food items such as canned foods and boxed items that do not expire such as soups, instant potatoes, and canned vegetables.  Students should bring their canned foods to the boxes located in their first period classrooms. All nonperishable food items that are brought in, are going to be donated to “Aldersgate United Methodist church where they will feed warrior families with no food for the upcoming holidays,” said Ms. Roush, the leadership class teacher. The first period classroom that have collected the most amount of canned or boxed food items will win a donut party.

Students at Osceola say they’re willing to participate. “I think it is good that the school is doing this because it helps feed people who can’t afford to feed themselves. I’m going to try and bring in as many cans as I can so my first period class can win the donut party,” said Julia Davison, 9th grade. “I think it is good that we can feed people in our own community that cannot afford to feed themselves we all should give back if we can,” said Mary, 10th grade.
