An Atlas V rocket was propelled into orbit just after 6:30 this morning and bloomed into a bright plume. The spacecraft is carrying a satellite for the Mexican government. According to Bay News 9, United Launch Alliance the plume of smoke came from the rocket’s launch boosters. As the rocket got higher, the smoke trail caught the pre-drawn morning light just right. Dozens of people called Bays News 9 wondering if something had blown up in the sky.
