Osceola student gets invention patent

One of Osceola’s students has an invention that could change the way people exercise.

Joe Sleppy, a senior, not only has an invention, but a company based around it called SleppSolutions, LLC. His product is designed to help people who cannot use their hands well do push-ups, by having a strap that is hooked onto the ceiling looped around both of their arms. In this way, pressure is not put on the hands, but rather the straps.

Sleppy said the idea for his invention came from his mother: “My mom had carpal tunnel, so I got the idea to help my mom.”

Currently, SleppSolutions is looking for a manufacturer. However, his company will not be doing the manufacturing, as he explained: “I followed my provisional patent, and we got a deal with Be-Spoked for manufacturing.”

Sleppy plans to use the profits for his education. “I’m going to try to use the profits to go to college. However, the goal is to satisfy the customer 100%,” he stated. He drew out a small chart to explain his business strategy: to create a product that has a very specific market, take care of its customers in that market, let the customers spread praise of the company, and let business increase from there.

However, this is his long-term plan, and, in his words: “The process is that right now, I’m trying to produce it.”
