Osceola Athletes comment on the Olympics

As many athletes at Osceola rest in their off-season, the world is preparing for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. With it come the sports that many like to watch: Figure Skating, Bobsledding, Skiing, Snowboarding and Ski Jumping.

Among those watching will be Jordan Lamanna and Madeleine Repka, two off-season athletes here at Osceola. Jordan, a Junior, is on the Diving team, and got a personal best of 354 points, breaking her previous record.

“I’m excited to watch the Skiing and Snowboarding at the Olympics,” Jordan commented. “I like Snowboarding best because of the half-pipe.”

Madeleine, a Sophomore, runs Cross-Country and is on the Track Team. Her best achievement is that she came in 11th place at the Regional Competitions.

About the Winter Olympics, she said “I’m excited to watch them, they only come once every four years.” Her favorite sports to watch are Slalom Skiing and Hockey. “Hockey is played at high intensity, and I love skiing,” Madeleine explained.

The Winter Olympics will begin on February 6th. For a schedule of the games, check out NBC’s 2014 Olympics website.
