“Gabey has a sweet smile, is on track, (was an) escapee (from reading class) on his own power, and I miss him in class,” said Mrs. Devine.

“She’s very sweet and caring, she helped me get out of reading,” Gabe said. That experience in 10th grade made Mrs. Devine Gabe’s favorite teacher. The power that Mrs. Devine saw in Gabe when he was her student is the same power that allows him to keep going for his dreams.

Gabe is a junior at Osceola, and when he graduates he wants to be a physician. He loves to help people, and sports, which leads to him wanting to prescribe medicine, and provide therapy to baseball players. He would like to help the players with whatever injury they have, because he has experienced injuries from playing sports himself and knows how bad they can be. If his dream as a sports medicine physician does not work out, he would like to pursue something that has to do with history.

Most days after school, Gabe May works at Ace hardware, and if he’s not working he is playing baseball at Osceola High School. He likes to play baseball because, “it’s not like football, baseball is more about the game and not about hitting people”. Although he doesn’t like to play football he loves to watch it, “My favorite season is football season”.

Gabe has one 12 year old brother, Dominic, and a Dachshund, Coco. He named his dog Coco because “She is brown, like cocoa”. His hobbies are playing baseball, drawing, painting, and hanging out with his best friend Kevin. Kevin and Gabe have gotten very close this year, closer than they were before, because of a class they have together. He likes Kevin because, “I have known him since we were seven years old, and he is funny. When we hang out we like to play baseball, and we used to play football together freshman year”.

The music Gabe likes to listen to is “music that gets me going, pumped”, such as rap, hip-hop, and R&B. He doesn’t play any instruments, but wishes he played guitar because “it is easy to learn, and fun”.
