Supplies
A plastic water bottle, scrap fabric, cotton balls/fiber filling, a wooden bead, scissors, a glue gun, and a sewing needle and thread (optional).
-
Step 1: Creating the body
First, cut out a piece of fabric big enough to fit around the water bottle. Then, wrap the water bottle with the fabric, and tie the top, leaving no openings in the fabric.
-
Step 2: Cut out the hat
Cut out a triangle with another piece of fabric. The base of the triangle should be 11 inches across and cut with a curve, while the slant height should be 9 inches.
-
Step 3: Putting the hat together
Once the triangle is all cut out, grab your water bottle and place the triangle around the top, making sure that the hat fits snugly. Once you find the proper sizing, add glue to one side of the triangle and wrap it back around the top of the water bottle, until one side of the triangle is glued to the other, or sew the hat around the water bottle.

Step 4: The finishing touches
Once the body and hat of the gnome have been created, you can add the beard and nose. For the beard, take the cotton balls or fiber filling and place them along the gnome to form an upside-down triangular shape. Then, take one wooden bead, and place it right above the beard, giving the gnome a nose.

Step 5: Enjoy
Lastly, with the new addition of a Christmas gnome, enjoy. Try giving him a name or placing him in the living room. Nevertheless, a Christmas gnome is an entertaining creative project that can adorn any room. And, not to mention, the DIY process can be relaxing.
