Students get ready to “chomp” down college

Last week the University of Florida sent out their decisions for students who applied to the school in late 2016. With UF having an average acceptance rate of 48%, according to acceptancerate.com more than half of the students who applied will be turned down. However, this did not stop some Warriors from making it, including track runner Adam Oakes. “The University of Florida has been a school I always thought was very hard to get in to even as a kid,” said Adam. “Now that I am finally accepted in to the school I could not be more excited.”

Adam will not be the only Osceola alumnus in Gainesville this August. There will be at least three others starting there with him. Aside from current seniors, some former Warriors are already at the school. Another senior who was  accepted into the school said, “I think I am most excited to just have some change.” Gainesville is about 4 hours away from Pinellas County. “It is going to be nice to be in a new place with new people,” that senior said.

Students who will be attending the university this fall are expected to stay in communication with admissions for important announcements and other messages. “It is going to be difficult to leave all of my family and friends, but I know that this will be a positive experience and I am excited for what is to come,” said Adam.
