Students in chorus, band, and orchestra performed in the 2023 Winter Concert.

December 5th, students in chorus, band, and orchestra performed their holiday-themed pieces for the Winter Concert. The concert included several pieces played by the band, string orchestra, and small jazz group. Sophomore Michaela Conard performed in both the band and chorus. She said, “I think the concert went really well with all the pieces.” She also added, “Getting the opportunity to perform in both band and chorus and getting to learn all the different songs is such an amazing experience.”

The concert also included songs performed by the chorus. They were sung by the Beginning Chorus, Concert Chorus, or both. Aleia Ryan, a sophomore in the Concert Chorus, said, “It was good, the soloists were great, and the band was outstanding.” Chorus senior Kaitlyn Hempy said, “I liked how the chorus and band came together and became one performing arts program.” She also mentioned that chorus gives her “a way to make new friends and have a chorus family while singing songs together.” There were also individual performances, called solos, that several students participated in. One of last night’s soloists, senior Chloe Tisdale, said, “My solo meant a lot to me. I was really nervous for it at first, but I love performing and singing in front of audiences. I also love inspiring others through music.”

At the end of the concert, Theia Wert, a senior in the Concert Chorus, presented a surprise to the chorus teacher, Mr. Campbell. He was surprised with a visit from some of the chorus students who had graduated in previous years. Aleia Ryan said, “The surprise at the end was very nice and Mr. Campbell loved it.” After the last song with a crowd sing-along, the Winter Concert came to an end.
