Today, February 6th, Osceola is having their second blood drive of the year. Many students have signed up this year, totaling 44 students, which is the typical amount for Pinellas County high schools. However, compared to pre-Covid, there is a significant drop in the number of students who sign up each year.
Sofia, a One Blood worker, described reasoning for the drop of participants as “they could be afraid of needles, not knowing about the blood drive, or being too young to sign up,” (16 being the minimum age with parental consent) although she has described the environment while taking blood as comfortable.
