This year, the track team competed in districts on April 15th at Seminole High.  The girls were District Champions and the boys placed 3rd. There were 22 Osceola students who placed first through fourth to move on to regionals.  Of those 22, nine of them were district champions. One of those nine district champions is Avery Latto, 9th grade, who ran the 3200 and placed first for the girls.

Avery shared what she loves about track and why she likes being on the team. She said, “I enjoy track because of the camaraderie with the teammates.  We all help each other, and it makes track so much more enjoyable.”  With practice every day after school, runners spend a lot of time in the heat together. She said, “Everyone is so supportive, and we push each other during races.” The team encouragement seems to be working because athletes have to be in the top four at districts to move onto regionals. With her first place finish and district championship, she moved on to regionals on Saturday, May 1st at Charlotte High in Punta Gorda, FL.
