For the first time in years, the JV Volleyball team beat one of their toughest competitors.
Thursday, August 21st, 2025, the team took on against Academy of the Holy Names, and the Warriors got a win against them for the first time in years. These girls got the win just within two sets.
Rachel Anacki, a 6-rotation right-side/setter, said, “It felt great. I was so proud of all the girls. Everyone worked hard during the entire game.”
The sophomore went against A.H.N. the previous year, although they lost. Therefore, she said it felt great to get that win against such a competitive team this time around.
She went on to describe more about the victory. “Throughout the game, I was nervous that we would take that high you get after winning the first set and not put in full effort the next set, but that was not the case. We were starting to get tired, but everyone pushed through mentally and physically.”
Even though they won, it doesn’t mean they didn’t face some challenges throughout the game. The win shows that they were able to persevere and get that long awaited win in the end.
Mrs. Thompson-Vo, language arts teacher, attended that game, and gave her audience point of view. “There was an intensity, but it wasn’t anxiousness that I felt from that (opposing) audience. It was more deliberate concentration, purposeful, strategizing.”
