What a weekend! On August 23rd, the Ragin’ Storm Cross Country meet took place in Tampa. Both the Osceola girls and boys JV and varsity teams participated in this event, marking their second meet of the season.
During her return to school from the weekend, 12th grader Colleen Johansen reflected on this set of competitions. “I really enjoyed the environment of this meet”, she said on Monday. “It was very special because everyone was so positive and cheered each other on”.
The Warriors left the meet with many various accomplishments. The girls XC team received 2nd place, and boys received 8th place.
Members are looking forward to their improvement over the season. There are many different steps runners at Osceola are thinking about taking to prepare for their next meet. For instance, Colleen suggested that “the night before each meet, you should plan to get a good rest because you have to wake up around four in the morning just to get to the meets on time”. The senior also reported that “one of the best things to do before this next meet is to hydrate the night before, and to eat a good dinner”.
The teams are also working during practice after school to ensure they are ready to race to the finish line this weekend. Saturday, August 30th, our cross-country teams will compete in Wesley Chapel for their third meet of the season. “Cross country meets are every Saturday”, Colleen stated.
Stay tuned for how this next meet will turn out, and of course, best of luck for this upcoming event, cross country warriors!!
