Blood, sweat, and drum sticks

“The music was right in your face” commented Freshman Chris Hila after Warrior Nation officially met the marching band September 9th.  The marching band has a tradition of parading up and down the hallways during seventh period the day of a varsity football game hosted by Osceola.   This not only gives students a brief break from their last class of the day but it also “gets everyone excited for the game,” explained sophomore and marching band member Chance Reynolds. Not only do you get a personal serenade during school, but you can also see the marching band at every varsity football game at home performing their halftime show.   The walk around the halls gets not just the students pumped up to see the football team’s performance but also gets the band “more ready mentally” said Chance, for their big performance.

Now, the marching band doesn’t perform at such a high quality that it does without dedication, hard work, and a certain love for music.  The band members practice from 5:30 to 8:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays to practice for upcoming football games and competitions that the band enters.  Along with practicing 6 hours or more during the week, marching band members make sure that everything goes perfectly during their performance so they arrive early to squeeze in some practice time right before the event. So when students see the band marching down the hallways they just get a small glimpse of what the band has really prepared for.
