The band is hosting a Poinsettia fundraiser. The students need money for some new equipment while also repairing the current items in use. According to Mr. Rossicoe, They also need a new trailer that would be useful for traveling around. The trailer alone is about 10,000 dollars, and they are also in need of brand-new equipment. Therefore, they need all the support they can get to reach that amount and beyond. All the sales made by this fundraiser are going directly to the band.
The fundraiser is being hosted from November 1st to November 14th. Within this time frame, you can buy your Poinsettias. A 6-inch pot is 10 dollars per Poinsettia or 27 dollars for 3. Although, if you want to go bigger, you can get a 10- inch pot is 25 dollars per Poinsettia. To clarify, each pot has multiple Poinsettias in the size pot you want. If you want to purchase a pot or more to help support the band, you can email [email protected] to purchase your pot of choice. The pick-up date for the Poinsettias you would like to purchase is November 21st. Although Mr. Rossicoe, the head of this fundraiser, said that “you can also pick up them (the poinsettias) in the band room after the break if needed.” This gives you a chance that if you may be leaving town early or missing school on the pick-up day, you can still get your poinsettias if you purchased them.
A member of the band, Sofia Gutierrez, elaborated more on what the fundraiser is all about. She explained that all the money that is donated goes directly back into improving our program. Also, she stated that a new trailer is one of the biggest needs because the current one is run-down and is getting too small for everything that they need to bring to school events. A new trailer would keep their equipment safe, make traveling to competitions easier, and really help the band grow and perform at its best. Some other items in need are instrument repairs, new equipment, uniforms, and travel expenses. These things can be quite pricey therefore they are hosting this fundraiser with the intent of you participating.
